In the Name of God, Allah The All-Mighty.

Since staying here in the UK , I've been curious of the Days celebrated by the people here. Whether they are related to their religious celebrations or not. As practicing Muslims we should be alert and aware of their 'hidden agenda'. We should know what is good to be done or celebrated by Muslims as Islam has guided us.

For example, the previous celebration day here was Halloween.
Alhamdulillah, we had discussed in our Sister's Circle that it should not be celebrated by Muslims.

The link we were referred to was:
http://saifulislam.com/2013/10/persaudaraan-syaitan-bersyiarkan-halloween/

The other Days I searched for is the following:
(mostly from Wikipedia)

1. Black Friday

Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.

The day's name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. Use of the term started before 1961 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975. Later an alternative explanation was made: that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss from January through November, and "Black Friday" indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or "in the black".

-- Ok just a shopping day.

2. Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day, is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. It became an official Federal holiday in 1863, when, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens" (-- Oh dear!), to be celebrated on Thursday, November 26.

Thanksgiving is one of the major holidays of the year. Together with Christmas and New Year, Thanksgiving is a part of the broader holiday season.

The New England colonists were accustomed to regularly celebrating "thanksgivings"—days of prayer thanking God for blessings such as military victory or the end of a drought.

3. Buy Nothing Day

Buy Nothing Day (BND) is an international day of protest against consumerism. it is held the following day, which is the last Saturday in November. Buy Nothing Day was founded in Vancouver by artist Ted Dave and subsequently promoted by Adbusters magazine, based in Canada.

The first Buy Nothing Day was organized in Canada in September 1992 "as a day for society to examine the issue of over-consumption." In 1997, it was moved to the Friday after American Thanksgiving, also called "Black Friday", which is one of the ten busiest shopping days in the United States. In 2000, advertisements by Adbusters promoting Buy Nothing Day were denied advertising time by almost all major television networks except for CNN. Soon, campaigns started appearing in the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, the Netherlands, France, and Norway.

-- not so important I suppose. but a good intention. hehe..

4. Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday after Thanksgiving in the United States. The term "Cyber Monday" was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online. The term made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year"

The term was first used within the ecommerce community during the 2005 holiday season. According to Scott Silverman, the head of Shop.org, the term was coined based on 2004 research showing "one of the biggest online shopping days of the year" was the Monday after Thanksgiving (12th-biggest day historically). Retailers also noted the biggest period was December 5 through 15 of the previous year.In late November 2005, the New York Times reported that "The name Cyber Monday grew out of the observation that millions of otherwise productive working Americans, fresh off a Thanksgiving weekend of window shopping, were returning to high-speed Internet connections at work Monday and buying what they liked." The idea for having such a holiday was created by Tony Valado, in 2003, while working at 1800Flowers.com and coined White Wednesday to be held the day before thanksgiving for online retailers.

Cyber Monday is also used as a marketing term in the United Kingdom however the U.K. is more commonly using the term "Mega Monday", instead, Germany, Portugal and France.

-- It looks like everything is closely related to Thanksgiving Day and Shopping. Hmmm..

5. Boxing Day

Boxing Day is traditionally the day following Christmas Day, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts from their bosses or employers, known as a "Christmas box". Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on 26 December, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day, depending on national or regional laws.

The exact etymology of the term "boxing" is unclear. There are several competing theories, none of which is definitive. The European tradition, which has long included giving money and other gifts to those who were needy and in service positions, has been dated to the Middle Ages, but the exact origin is unknown. It is believed to be in reference to the Alms Box placed in places of worship in order to collect donations to the poor. In ancient, pre-Christian Rome, Saturnalia was a Roman celebration during which slave owners would switch roles with their slaves. Gift giving was a part of Saturnalia and benevolence to slaves was a practice which may have influenced the later December tradition of boxing and presenting of gifts to people of lesser status.

Boxing Day is a secular holiday that is traditionally celebrated on 26 December, the day after Christmas Day, which is also St. Stephen's Day, a religious holiday. In the UK, Boxing Day is a bank holiday. If Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, the following Monday is given as a substitute bank holiday.

-- So is it OK to shop during this time??

6. St. Stephen's Day

St. Stephen's Day, or the Feast of St. Stephen, is a Christian saint's day to commemorate Saint Stephen, celebrated on 26 December in the Western Church and 27 December in the Eastern Church. Many Eastern Orthodox churches adhere to the Julian calendar and mark St. Stephen's Day on 27 December according to that calendar, which places it on 9 January of the Gregorian calendar used in secular contexts. It commemorates St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr or protomartyr.

-- Opps! on the same date! An obvious relation to their religion.

7. Christmas

Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide, which ends after the twelfth night. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season.

-- Yes! InsyaALLAH we are informed right?

Only Allah s.w.t Knows!!

There are questions on whether or not we celebrate these Days. The big problem is when our children are told about these days and they are even special activities on these 'special' days. And another problem is hilarious sales related to them which we can benefit from.. Hmm..

My opinion is:

1. Preserve your intentions

2. When shopping - buy something not because of the Sale but because your really need them. Isn't it smart to plan you shopping and buy with a discount price?

3. Be alert of the issues brought by the Media.

Further explanations here.

What do you think?

PRU 13 - Pengalaman mengundi yang kedua. Alhamdulillah.

Alhamdulillah semua berjalan lancar. Dah tak ramai pun..... TQ ALLAH for everything ^^

Keputusannya seperti berikut PRU 13/ 2013,

Nak lagi detail kat sini, http://www.myundi.com.my/

BN Menang.
Alhamdulillah.

"Ajaibnya perihal seorang mukmin itu. Sesungguhnya semua urusannya baik-baik belaka. Dan tiadalah memiliki ciri yang seperti ini melainkan hanya kepada seorang yang mukmin. Sekiranya dia diuji dengan kesenangan, lalu dia bersyukur. Maka syukur itu adalah yang terbaik baginya. Sekiranya dia diuji dengan kesusahan, lalu dia bersabar. Maka sabar itu adalah yang terbaik baginya.
[Hadis Riwayat Muslim]

Allah kn MAHA LEBIH TAHU keperluan dan kehendak Hamba2NYA. Serah padaNYA.

"Apabila kerja-kerja Islam dapat diteruskan maka sebenarnya kita MENANG!" ulasan kata-kata Al-Marhum Ustaz Fadzil Mohd Noor.

Islam akan tetap MENANG nnti dengan kemenangan yang hakiki. Kita yang RUGI jika tidak bersama kemenangan itu.

waALlahu'alam.

Have you heard the recent issues on the Big Day "Al-Qiyamah" was predicted to be on that day - 21 December 2012.

'WaALlahu'alam' I would say.

So what are our preparations?
Truly, every single date and day are for us to 'Muhasabah', recheck our deeds, our amals... and especially our 'NIAT's because they all gives impact on our 'balance of Good Deeds'.
If is was to be that day.. How about our current work? our current efforts?

I read from one of the Hadis from the book writen by Muhammad Qutb,

“Sekiranya berlaku kiamat sedangkan di tangan salah seorang kamu ada benih tamar dan dia berupaya menanamnya sebelum kiamat. Maka hendaklah dia menanamnya, dengan itu dia mendapat pahala.”
(HR: Al-Bukhari)

The simple conclusion would be to just continue your efforts in whatever work or amal you are doing and don't forget to preserve your 'NIAT' or intentions.

Happy doing more good deeds!
May Allah Bless.

And Allah S.W.T is All-Knowing.

InsyaALLAH New Hijri Post
Salam Maal Hijrah! 1434H

This is my collection of the issue of end and early year dua'.
I hope it will be beneficial to me and to anyone who's searching for this information.

InsyaALLAH I recommend you to read the whole explanations from the links provided.

1. Doa Gubahan Ulama tanpa Klaim Sebagai Hadits Nabi [http://www.rumahfiqih.com/ust/e2.php?id=1200273455&=do-039-a-akhir-tahun-dan-awal-tahun.htm]

3. FB Ustaz Azhar Idrus

My conclusion is that we can recite these dua's because reciting prayers is Sunnah but not to make it a compulsory (wajib) amal and not to enforce others. waALlahu'alam.

What is more important is to explore the true meaning of HIJRAH!

Hijrah - Titik Mula Meraih Kecemerlangan

[Please continue reading here]

In love?

Are you in love? LOVE is a pleasure; love is happiness and peace. Love makes your days blossom with flowers of merriment and flourish in beauty. It gives extraordinary power to strive on even though nothing is left. It pours calm and homely comforts to the soul… With love, life is destined to continue; "I can live on because of him…" Life is meaningful because of love. The power of love brings you gliding through the clouds on a flying carpet ride. Everything seems right, perfect and complete with the presence of love. Love is the secret behind the writers of love letters and romantic poems. Love is the hero of sacrifices eternally made throughout time.

Our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) highlighted love - Narrated by Abu Dharr: The prophet said: "The BEST of all actions is to LOVE for the sake of ALLAH and to hate for the sake of ALLAH" (Abu Dawud).

But wait! What about our love story with the "Number One Lover"? HE, who should be number one in all priorities of love of a Muslim. Have you ever wondered about it? Have you ever given a thought about this LOVE? Do you have this love? Are your sure of that love? Is it true that you love ALLAH more than anything? Allah … He who created man with LOVE and tender…

This is the actual strength that reshapes all your desires and feelings. This is the genuine strength that provides soul to everything that you are attracted to and have affection for. It becomes significant and it carries weight. You will never ever be rejected by this lover. This lover gives the best for His admirers, for this love is real. He is always there, watching and protecting His lovers from dawn to dusk, 25 hours a day and 8 days a week. He provides help to all needy. His bounties never run out. His helps are guaranteed. Ask and you will be given.

Do you realize that He really loves you? Why can't we love Him with all our hearts? Is there any uncertainty with His love, for all this while He is giving us health and wealth? Look around you and feel His love within. Your sight, taste, feelings and intelligence are out of His generosity. Above all, He gave us IMAN and ISLAM – the prime nikmat (gifts) of all.

Narrated by Anas: The Prophet said: "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the delights of faith: the one to whom ALLAH and His Apostle love dearer than anything else; the one who loves or hates a person only for the sake of ALLAH and one who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) in the same manner as he hates to be thrown into the hellfire" (Sahih Bukhari).

There is no significant love other than ALLAH's. Loving ALLAH is everything to a Mukmin as this love cannot be compared to any love on earth. Deep in the hearts of His lovers is the dire hope to see The Beloved One on the Ultimate day.

Seeking ALLAH’s love,

Ummu Salamah

This is our journey now...

to Jannah. Have a SAVE journey......

I feel alive and I feel strong I can feel Islam running in my Veins to see my muslim brothers, their purpose all the same greeting one another, exalting one True Name I truly hope one day that everyone’s a Muslim... that they remember you in everything they say...
As we finalized our Umrah at one of the hills of Safa and Marwa (can't remember which one - either one) by cutting a little of our hair, the Adzan was heard in the Wonderful, Holy Masjidil Haram. Peaceful. Magical.

The few magical minutes of our visit to Mekah and Madinah gave me the everlasting remembrance and I am always "Waiting for the Call". I was still in primary school when Allah granted us (me and my family - Mama, Abah, Me, Taqy, Amin and Ahmad) this Dream. My heart was in great peace. Every second was like a Dream.

Dream; as we entered Masjid Nabawi, then we travelled to Mekah by bus... we did the tawaf 7 times around the Ka'ba then sa'i (between Safa and Marwa hills) and the Fajar prayer in the Holy masjid.. SubhanAllah. These are miracles!

We met many Muslims, from different nations and races, that speak different languages and have different life styles but all gathered there for only one purpose - to perform umrah / hajj. An 'ibada only for the sake of Allah swt.

My mother-in-law and father-in-law (Mak and Abah), are going to do Umrah early next month.. I wish i can go too....

Irfan Makki - Waiting for the call [Lyrics]

Miles away, oceans apart never in my sight always in my heart the love is always there it will never die only growing stronger a tears rose down my eye

I am thiking all the time when the day will come standing there before you accept this Hajj of mine

standing in ihram, making my tawaf drinking blessings from your well the challenges that I have suffered and might were rekindles my imaan

O Allah! I am waiting for the call praying for the day when I can be near the Kabah wall O Allah! I am waiting for the call praying for the day when I can be near the Kabah wall

I feel alive and I feel strong I can feel Islam running in my Veins to see my muslim brothers, their purpose all the same greeting one another, exalting one True Name I truly hope one day that everyone’s a Muslim. that they remember you in everything they say

standing in ihram making my tawaf, making my tawaf drinking blessings from your well the challenges that I have suffered and might were rekindles my imaan

O Allah! I am waiting for the call praying for the day when I can be near the Kabah wall O Allah! I am waiting for the call praying for the day when I can be near the Kabah wall..

Oh Allah... I;m waiting for the Call..

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue …
Valentines Day is definitely not for YOU !!!

definitely not for me....
why?

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) has said:
Celebrating Valentines Day is not permissible for a number of reasons.
  1. It is an innovated festival for which there is no basis in Islam.
  2. It promotes love and infatuation.
  3. It calls for hearts to be preoccupied with foolish matters that are contrary to the way of the righteous salaf (may Allaah be pleased with them).
and...

Shaykh Ibn Jibreen (may Allaah preserve him) has said:

Firstly:
it is not permissible to celebrate these innovated festivals, because it is an innovation for which there is no basis in Islam. It comes under the heading of the hadeeth of Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.

Secondly:
it involves imitating the kuffaar and copying them by venerating that which they venerate and respecting their festivals and rituals, and imitating them in something that is part of their religion. In the hadeeth it says: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”

Thirdly:
it results in evils and haraam things such as wasting time, singing, music, extravagance, unveiling, wanton display, men mixing with women, women appearing before men other than their mahrams, and other haraam things, or things that are a means that leads to immorality. That cannot be excused by the claim that this is a kind of entertainment and fun. The one who is sincere towards himself should keep away from sin and the means that lead to it. And he said: Based on this, it is not permissible to sell these gifts and roses, if it is known that the purchaser celebrates these festivals or will give these things as gifts on those days, so that the seller will not be a partner of the one who does those innovations.

and...

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Festivals are part of shareeah, clear way and rituals of which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way” [al-Maaidah 5:48]
“For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies which they must follow” [al-Hajj 22:67]

Thus, Valentine is definitely not for me or anyone who is a Muslim.
waAllahualam

- in the exam hall..

Ish...ish.. Oh Allah…I am so sad” The midterm marks are evaluated and no chance to increase it, no errors in the markings. “How was your exam?” “Was the paper easy? – Surely you did them excellently!” a very sensitive question but a norm to us students. Attached to it are answers such as: “Okla, plus minus…surely you are better.” Moreover, some would utter, “Please don’t ask...” – not sure whether negative or positive.

These are sweet and sour obstacles of a student’s life. Either pass or fail; a two twist of fate that is actually unpredictable. We can strive hard to achieve the best but even so, above that are Allah’s plans. The truth is that we cannot run from frustrations, depressions and miseries because we are human beings designed as His creation. The piece of us that weakens the strengths to struggle and filter the iradah from Allah swt. Why do we feel sad?

Oh heart, don’t feel sad, do not be depress. Allah never has and will never test us with what we are unable to endure. This is His promise. If we pass or fail, it is to be quantified by Allah’s measuring scale, not ours. Let us check ourselves, are we sad, frustrate of what we have done followed by the spirit to improve? Do we have the force to prove the success we should gain in each hardship?

Do not be sad… Only those who are not Mukmin should feel the misery, not us for we have Allah swt to judge with the most acute measure. There are two types of sadness faced by humankind. One is al-Hazan, the feeling of sadness that has occurred in our past and remembered. The second is al-Hamun, arrive from something that has not happened but stressed by the thought that it will take place.

With two types of sadness, are two different ways to face it. First, one thinks so hard about one’s problem. This is what a person with a weak soul and faith would do. On the other hand, those who have a strong and noble soul, who are clear in heart, they would think beyond the problem, which is to think and plan the way out. They think to solve and they act to improve. They give themselves hundreds of reasons why they must obtain knowledge. They convince themselves it is their jihad. In reality it is Allah we are seeking via this quest for knowledge. Is that not the highest possible goal? Is that not sufficient to drive a believer’s heart?

Let us be knowledge seekers that think and strive to make our path clear to save the ummah. A Muslim student should have faith in Allah swt. Let us put our maximum efforts to learn lillah, for Allah swt. With this intention, pray that Allah will grant us success in life and the hereafter. We are to make our success as a success of Islam. This is the foremost important preparation to the examinations to come.

*Most universities are having / approaching the Exam period... For IIU students especially and my two brothers taking Medicine and Law.. May ALlah help all of you..and give you the Best results.. All the Best! Gambatte! :-)

MasyaALlah, I've also been Tagged...
by Humayra - JazakLlahukhair!

Usually I will just delete any "Tagged" email. Even though it says that I must respond or else the sender may think I'm not their friend. I truly believe that our friendship does not require any declaration or network on the Internet because we believe in Ukhwwah FiLlah.. friendship only for the sake of Allah.. Apart from that, I'm just avoiding any social networks such as Facebook, Tagged or as such. There are many more... I'm only a member of Pewaris.net, insyaALLAH a social network that I feel hmmm safe I suppose :) waAllahualam..

Just to share.. something about Facebook

.... ok back to my TAG ;) it's so easy - this is so exciting!

The rule is....

1. copy the picture below, and paste it on your post.
(or.. copy the whole post if you want - up to you... the most important thing is that the message is spread insyaALLAH)

2. Tag 10 friends and ask them to do the same.

nur's ilmi (my UTM friend)
niksolehah (my high school classmate)
ummitariq (my twin name)
kak mie (my university senior)
wannabbe (my senior doctor)
halawatul iman (my kelantan senior)
nawal (my high school junior)
kak fatimah (my USM senior)

spacedaie (my akhi)
ahmad (my youngest brother)

Fuh! that was hard.. Alhamdulillah finally I've completed the tag. I have to make sure they have not been tagged yet.. hmm waAllahualam, if you guys have been tagged by someone else.. just take it as a reminder:

"And remind (by preaching the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) for verily, the reminding profits the believers.." (Adh-Dhariyat: 55)

May Allah accept this as a prayer.. and choose us to be His faithful and loyal slaves, remember Allah wants to buy back what He has gave us (life, wealth, time...) with Jannah. InsyaALLAH Let us strive for Islam.
"Verily, Allah has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties; for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allah's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurah and the Injeel and the Quran. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? The rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success." (At-Taubah: 111)

waAllahualam.

Our ultimate return is just around the corner. The last and final return, where there is no way out... no reverse or turn back.. Once gone, there will never be another second chance to repeat or redo what has been done. The question is when and how? Only Allah the Creator knows, but what is confirmed is that we will return back to whom we came from - Back to ALLAH who created us.

Recently, news of the return of our close friends and relatives came one after the other reminding us of our return to Our Master.. I don't know if my analysis is accurate or not, but it seems that I always recieve news of deaths just before the Holy month of Ramadhan. Innalillahiwainnailaihirajiun.. Year by year when Ramadhan is approaching, this always crosses my mind... will I have the chance to meet this year's Ramadhan??

All lives are in His Hands...

"Every human being is bound to taste death; and We test you (all) through the bad and the good (things of life) by way of trial: and unto Us you all must return." (21:35)

May Allah accept their amal and place them among those who are pious...
